“Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself” Archive of category Site NewsBack!category: Site NewsSo much to tell you! Most importantly, we're back! We - Sofie, Michiel and I - were stuck with a missing server. As we had already planned to move server providers, our decision was made within a minute. Our old server provider had decided to migrate their servers from California to New Jersey (read all about it: WebHostTalk (103 pages and counting ...)) (my reply) (Michiel's reply).
I have loads of things to tell you, none of them major (and one which I cannot share yet). I've taken loads of photos with the borrowed Canon 300D in the meantime - check them out at my flickr page:
In about 2 weeks, I'll be on vacation (actually staying at my parents' house when they are in France). I'm thinking of brining my computer (and screen), because nothing is more annoying - when you have loads of time - than sitting behind a strange computer. I'm hoping the weather will improve, because when Sofie and Michiel&Nancy are coming over, I want to barbecue! More posts coming soon: some recipes, some links, and perhaps even some more stories ;)
Totally forgot: mvblog has a new feature - please register and login to leave comments - the spammers were attacking us, so Michiel programmed in this safety. It won't take more than 5 minutes - I promise!
New Category: Historical Postscategory: Site NewsComing in the near future (probably with the launch of mvblog 1.5), I will have a nicely filled category Historical Posts. Using the WayBackMachine, I am manually importing some of my posts saved on older blogs. Because I thought I had lost almost all of my entries, I used the WayBackMachine to see what was left. Almost all of my posts, and even some images have been saved for posterity :) UPDATED - Historical Posts is now active!
Paris inspired layoutcategory: Site NewsA new season, a new look. While I was in Paris I took loads of photographs [link]. One of which was taken in the Jardin des Tuileries, where children could rent sailboats and push them with a stick in the correct wind direction.
The sailboat in my website header is a Gimp-ed version of this photograph.

As you can see I have reverted back to the original mvblog look.
As I am working on a Guide to mvblog CSS, I have decided to have my blog run the standard tags, instead of the tags I had incorporated myself. Please be patient, I know content is all over the place, but all will be fixed in a week or so. Meanwhile the underlying software has not changed and it is running beautifully as ever!

As some of you might know, this website runs on the mvblog software package. This software program is entirely coded by my friend Michiel.
Over the past 3-4 months, Sofie and I have been using the software on an almost daily basis. And it rocks! Whenever we find a feature that we would like to see added, or whenever Michiel thinks we want something simply too specific for other people, code is added or deleted almost instantly. Even now, I see the character-counter has been moved to the end of all the style buttons in the post-editor. Before it was moving around, as the counter had to use larger numbers. I can safely say that Michiel is building a wonderful package, that will be able to rival many weblogging programs out there on the net. In the future, well-written FAQ and Documents will be available, explaining the install and features of mvblog. Keep an eye out on all the features that will POP up at the most unexpected times. And if you find a bug, feel free to post a comment to any of my posts, or simply go here: mvblog - sourceforge.net, and post a bug-report. Hrmphcategory: Site News
UPDATE 5
I think I've conquered the wary buttons - I want to find out how to make them less 'out there' than they are now - they are asking for something like a bottom border :) UPDATE 4 Still working on fixing this design. Not only people using IE are having problems, but if you're screenresolution is different from mine, it can cause problems too. read more Temporary Insanitycategory: Site News
Stay with me while I change layouts.
Michiel has put down an excellent CSS code for the mvblog, but I'm trying to find my own style. This will mean that my site may be hard to read for a few hours. My apologies! UPDATE right - nothing much has changed - I need to talk to Michiel first to see which tags are really important, and which tags are there for Admin-purposes only :) UPDATE 2 As Michiel rightly pointed out, the CSS-file I have for reference is only for the 'public' part of mvblog - guess I'll just have to bite down and continue designing a new look :) 1-7 (7 total) |
