Photo Friday - Misty

Life is good. Even though at work it feels like I need a vacation again (it's a bit busy, but we don't use the word b.u.s.y. anymore).

And life in my own little house is great!

For all those who have not yet had a chance to visit me, below an impression:

Balkenende II is no longer.

We are without a government.

The house of cards has come tumbling down.

Yesterday evening our Cabinet "fell down" (in good dutch).

As the Cabinet does not have an official "Mission" anymore, you'd expect chaos. Well, there won't be - only the most necesary files will be handled and finished, and I get the idea that we're going to have a spectecular Summer, without any awkward noises coming down from our government.

If you're Dutch, any idea who will get your vote?

unwise to ask for 1 extra work-day this week?

After my short break, I came back to an overtaxed department/colleagues and an overflowing mailbox (I'm getting mailbox-size-warnings daily).

If only I could have an extra work-day after Friday ;)

Tuesday March 21: Hortus Botanicus, Utrecht and Kröller-Müller Museum, Park De Hoge Veluwe

Wednesday March 22: Hortus Botanicus, Leiden

With a vacation of a week, I had plans - carefully selected plans.

My room/house was going to be cleaned (work-in-progress).

My aunt and I visited an exhibition about Rembrandt and his mother (The Historian).

My mom and I went to Utrecht yesterday, to check out an exhibition at the Utrecht University Museum, but we ended up walking in their Botanical Garden (the exhibition was not quite what we had expected). After a nice lunch, we drove to the Park de Hoge Veluwe (national park), which houses the Kröller-Müller Museum. My mom had an invite to the opening of a new pavilion. I finally was able to use a borrowed camera to its full extent, and it was greating making photos of all these beautiful sculptures.

Today, with the hesitant sun shining, I decided to visit the Botanical Garden of Leiden University. Even more photos followed, and just now I uploaded the last one to my flickr account.

At one point, when I was in one of the greenhouses, the lens of my camera fogged up, and most of those photos are miserably shady.

Allemaal vragen, want ik ben nieuwsgierig. Ik ga altijd stemmen, omdat ik het belangrijk vind dat mijn 'stem' telt, maar ieder jaar erger ik me weer dat geklef van de partij-mensen.

Waarom nu zo raar? Waarom opeens anders? En, waarom opeens niet meer je eigen mening verkondigen, maar zo cliché-matig kletsen over lege onderwerpen?

Awesome day at the Thialf Stadium in Heerenveen today!

It only took us (colleague and I) about 3 hours by train, but when we arrived the atmosphere was already great.

Everyone (apart from us and about 5 other people) was dressed up in orange items you can only dream of.

As this was the final day of the ISU World Cup, special events were planned. I've taken some photos with my phone, which you can see at my flickr page.

This was my first time seeing speed skating live, and it was awesome!

3 October Vereeniging [nl] [Leiden Wikipedia Entry]

After surviving a siege by the Spaniards in 1574, Leiden continues to celebrate its victory each year on October 3. While I'm trying to find a house in Den Haag (The Hague), I am still living in Leiden, right across from a huge Luna Park. Yes, I will flee to my parents on October 3, but that's because it's going to be hectic at work the next day - I will need my sleep.
